I'm moving!  Check out my new internet home at http://carolekm.blogspot.com/.

Goodbye xanga.

I'm in love - with my new computer!  My weekend project has been the arduous task of transferring or deleting everything from the old machine to the new one - thankfully, I think I'm almost done.

Last week my roommate asked a dangerous question - "I have some free time and would like to read one more book before the semester begins - any suggestions?"  I rushed to my shelves and starting pouring over them "What do I suggest?" My 'short list' is below:

Real Sex by Lauren Winner

Let the Nations Be Glad by John Piper

Good News About Injustice by Gary Haugen

More than Equals by Perkins and Rice

The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom

Difficult Conrersations by Stone, Patton and Heen

Book Lover's Guide to Great Reading by Terry Glaspey (not necessarily a great read in itself, but on every page is 10 books I'd like to read)

Knowing God by J.I. Packer

The Life You've Always Wanted by John Ortberg

and this doesn't include C.S. Lewis, books I've loaned to people and all of my favorites that I don't yet own....

She chose 'The Life You've Always Wanted' and is enjoying it immensely.

Lauren Winner is looking for an assistant!  If I lived in Durham, I might just apply for the part-time job.  It would be busy (with my current full-time job), but it would be so cool to work for her.  And that way we would become fast friends .

I saw the Penguin movie last night - amazing!  It was so cool, and in the words of Nicholas Paternoster "the penguins are so cute."  I want a pet penguin.  But I think that's a little unlikely, at least for the near future.

Let the moving season begin (thankfully, I'm taking the year off!).  But if you need help hauling boxes, let me know!

Well, SLT is over.  It was a really good month.  One the big highlights for me personally was getting to know Sarah Sumner.  She's an incredible, inspiring person, and we spent an afternoon together that was challenging and transforming for me.  When she left she wrote an amazing inscription in my book and gave me several hugs.

While there are some hard things about not living at Cedar and being back, I've thoroughly enjoyed a week off of work and the freedom to nap whenever I please.  It's also good to cook again (I'm currently baking banana bread - yum!).

Wow - I can't belive that July 6th is finally here!  In just an hour I'm leaving for SLT.  Can't wait to see Cat, Dan, Pearl and Sarah there.  And a few weeks later, Hattie too!

Sunday afternoon I finally checked out the new Sweetwaters in Kerrytown.  Great place - but so much to look at with the grocery store right behind it.  Not the best for intense reading/studying, which I was attempting to do.  As I sat there I realized how many coffee shops have opened since I've been in Ann Arbor, and how much I enjoy going to them for the first time - the Starbucks at State St., Arborland and South U., the ERC's on A2 Saline, Plymouth, Carpenter and South U., Perfect Blend on Washtenaw and now this new Sweetwaters.  The only place left for me to visit is Portifino's on the west side of town.  But that will have to wait till next month.....

THEN I realized how long I've lived in Ann Arbor.  One-third of my life.  Crazy!
